Blog Update.

Aside

Hey all,

Just a quick note to anyone that happens to follow my blog to say that I’ve had a change of heart with the design of my WordPress blogsite and decided to change the theme of it today.  Hope you like it as much as I do.  I’m hoping to start posting more stuff up on there over the coming weeks as I get around to doing more stuff for both my photography and my other business ventures.

Thanks,

Lee

Missing my camera

Hello to anyone that follows my ramblings on here. just thought i would drop by and put a post online saying how much I am missing my camera and having opportunities to be creative. Due to security here, I am not allowed to be out and about photographing stuff therefore I didn’t bring any of my DSLR kit to Afghanistan with me.

For this reason, I’ve decided that I need to start planning some stuff for the future.

I’ve been very busy this last month or so speaking to two friends, and have signed 2 hopefully lucrative contracts. They are totally un related to photography, in fact one is in the Health and Leisure industry and the other is in the beauty industry. I’ll be working hard wth these guys next year with the aim to move back to Europe and get involved with the businesses as soon as is possible. This will allow me to have hobbies and interests outside of work as working here in Afghan, I have no free time in which I can do stuff I want to do other than watch movies.

I’m planning a 365 project next year. I tried it back when I was living in the Dominican Republic and it started off well, had a few followers and was showing promise until I got distracted or lost interest, which ever it was back in Feb 2010, but I promise to stick with it next time. I have a few ideas that I want to run with that have been inspired by some work produced by others, more to come on that later, maybe even t’s own mini blog site.

Also, I want to start getting more and more people in front of my camera and get creative with them. I want to start a body of work that both pushes my creativity and also tells the story of the characters that I get to photograph.

I think that’s all for now, thanks for readying and if you are following, leave a comment so I can gauge what my audience is now.

Many thanks, Lee

Speedlight Mastery workshop with Damien Lovegrove.

Having recently completed a Speedlight Mastery workshop with the inspirational trainer Damien Lovegrove, I thought it time to share my edited images.

We spent the day with Vicki, wandering the Bristol waterfront area finding some great locations to light using the Canon Speedlight and Pocket Wizard radio trigger system.

I hope you agree that the images have turned out great.

Thanks,

Lee

Focus on Imaging 2011, NEC, Birmingham.

So, on Monday and Tuesday last week I had the pleasure of attending the Focus on Imaging photographic industry expo at the NEC in Birmingham.  It was a fantastic 2 days, with lots of nice new equipment to feast your eyes on.

I invested in some Colour Munky colour calibration equipment for my displays and printer and also a neat little device for calibrating my cameras RAW conversion images.

There were some great deals to be had on photographic gear, but I managed to restrain myself from buying any.

There were some stands setup with continuous lighting and models to be shot.  I’ve included some pictures here:

Back in the UK.

After a nightmare of travelling back to the UK and managing to miss 2 flights in 2 days, I landed back at Heathrow airport 24 hours later than originally expected. Luckily my parents were able to come and collect me. Big thanks to them.

This is going to be a busy week. The Focus on Imaging show at the NEC is on and I have my pass and I’m ready to go. I have a seminar booked on Tuesday afternoon with the training crew at Aspire Photographic Training which should be good, their training is usually spot on and for only £5 it’s a bargain! :)

See some of you there.

Travels almost over…

Hi all, it’s been a quiet few months on the photography front. I’ve been snowboarding lots and generally just taking my mind off photography.

I return to the UK at the end of this week and already the next 2 months are filling up with things to do that will hopefully help push me along the right path to becoming a full time photographer.

My schedule at the moment goes something like this…
March 7th-9th – Focus on Imaging, photography expo at the NEC, Birmingham
March 8th – Business Seminar at FOI with Apsire CPT.
April 4th – Training course with Lovegrove Consulting, Bristol.
March and April – Creative days for portfolio shots.

So, all in all it’s going to be a busy first 2 months back in the UK. Hopefully this will take my mind off the fact that I am back in the UK with no travel plans in the pipeline.

I look forward to phtographng as many of you as possible in the coming months.

Lack of updates….

I don’t think any one is actually following this blog yet, but for anyone that is, I apologise for the lack of content right now.

It’s no excuse, but I’m back on my travels and currently in Colorado doing a bit of snowboarding.

I’ve got some feelers out and a casting call on http://www.modelmayhem.com for other creatives to get together in March/April for some creative days and that has generated quiet a bit of interest from models. I have had replies form 5 models wanting to work with me, so that looks promising.

Also, I just enrolled on a training day with Damien Lovegrove at the start of April. looking forward to getting some more training from Damien, he is a super enthusiastic trainer who always gives lots of energy. Will come away with some new portfolio images and some ides also.

Am looking for a model to work with in Denver, CO and will hopefully get a shoot in soon, although it is bitterly cold here, so we’ll need to find bags of enthusiasm in order to get out there for urban portraits.

Hope to be blogging again soon, but if anyone has any suggestions for projects etc, please let me know.
